NPS Baileys M&M Ridden Championships - Olympia 2004

We had an excellent climax to the season when Taransay competed at Olympia, London, with Kirstin back in the saddle.  Taransay did a lovely show and behaved impeccably resulting in 8th place out of 35.  However we were especially delighted when she was called forward to receive a trophy for the best owner/bred pony and also best of breed.  She was the highest placed pony of the heavier breeds.

At the beginning of March 2004, Kirstin broke her leg so this has curtailed our activities for this season.  Kirstin was back in the saddle to compete at PUK in August 2004.

Our major achievement this year has been winning the Ridden Highland Pony Championship at the Royal Highland Show 2004 with Trailtrow Taransay.  She was also Supreme Mountain and Moorland Ridden Pony at the same Show.  This has now qualified her for Olympia at Christmas this year!

Carrick Raasay exchanged places with Rummlegairie who travelled south to Norfolk.  Raasay covered Gamhna of Carrick, Texa of Carrick, Trailtrow Tilliwhillie, Trailtrow Ealasaid and Trailtrow Ghlinnie.  All have been scanned to be in foal so our fingers are crossed for a good crop of foals Spring 2005.  We were very pleased with our previous Raasay offspring who are now 4 years old.  Tarskavaig has started a promising show career this year and Teal was shown successfully last year.  The other two Raasay offspring have gone onto other homes - Eriskay to Marjorie Grant near Forfar and Glencarrick to Mhairi Spence at Gatehouse.

We were tremendously pleased by the Forrest Family's success with Trailtrow Rhuann at the Royal Highland Show 2004.  She won the overall Supreme Highland Pony In-Hand Championship.  This was a first for an English-based pony.  From our own breeding point of view, it was also the first time that one breeder accounted for both the In-Hand and Ridden Championships with two different ponies in the same year.

Anna Newbold has successfully qualified Trailtrow Riach for the Derby House Preliminary Dressage Championships at Osbaldeston in September.  We wish her every success there.

Trailtrow Ribhinn has just moved to a new home with Derryth Webster near Sheffield.  She will be kept with Alison Payne's ponies for plenty Highland pony company.
